Top UK Road Trips To Try This Year

The staycation is here to – well, stay! Thanks to the UK’s plethora of destinations to choose from, the staycation boom benefitted Britain more than many other countries. Whether you prefer golden beaches or rugged mountain-top views, green valleys, or ancient city centres, Britain and Ireland have it all.

With the bank holiday season just around the corner, we bring you our top UK road trips.

The Coniston Loop

The Lake District is known as one of the most beautiful places in the UK. With epic panoramic views, book a few days off work and explore the 42-mile drive through some of its hidden treasures.

Whether you’re a fan of walking, water sports, or coffee and cake in a quaint café, the Lake District has it all.

Atlantic Highway

If golden sands and azure seas are more your thing, then the Atlantic Highway should be top of your road trip list. Stretching all the way from the Devon border into Cornwall, you’ll see some of the UK’s prettiest fishing villages.

With places like Bideford in Devon and Newquay in Cornwall regularly topping the most popular locations, you know you’re in for some stunning scenery – and some tasty fish and chips!

North Coast 500

Whilst England has plenty of picturesque spots, if it’s rugged beauty and a touch of mysticism and magic you’re after, then Scotland is the place for you. The North Coast 500 takes at least five days, ideally more than seven to truly appreciate its majesty. Each day is more breathtaking than the next.

May to September is the best time to fully appreciate the NC500. Whilst the summer months bring long days and warmer temperatures, September sees the changing of the seasons, with crystal clear, cool night skies.

Cambrian Way

Not to be outdone by Scotland, the equally Celtic nation of Wales has no shortage of stunning scenery – as well as that old magic that seeps out of the ancient stone. Travelling over 185 miles between Cardiff and Llandudno, visitors will experience mountain peaks and sheer cliffside drops, national parks and historic castles.

Planning the perfect road trip

The best bit about a road trip? You make your own itinerary. Decide where you want to adventure, how long you want to be on the road, and you get to control your budget. Maybe you want to invest in a motorhome, or perhaps camping is more your style? If you’re away for more than a week, perhaps you want to enjoy some luxury on your last few nights?

Whatever you want to do, wherever you want to go – adventure awaits….
