What Are my body contouring options?
Loose skin is sometimes unavoidable for even the most health conscious among us and for many, it is something we would rather be rid of. No matter how much exercise or healthy eating is done to avoid this, sometimes is it not enough.
There are however, a number of actions to take in order to reduce the appearance of loose skin. These include liposuction, tummy tucks and cool sculpting, all of which reduce the appearance of and tighten excess skin. All treatments focus on the reduction of fat in stubborn areas around the body and the consequent tightening of resulting loose skin.
Here at Transform Hospital Group, we hold a one-on-one consultation before any of our clients undergo treatment to ensure is it the right decision and also to make sure we achieve the desired effects.
Liposuction
Liposuction is a very quick and effective way of sculpting certain areas of the body by removing 50-70% of stubborn fatty deposits. Through the removal of these pockets of fat, these areas can be reshaped in the long term. The procedure uses a suction technique to remove fat and because of this, can be very targeted.
It is performed most commonly on the buttocks, thighs and stomach, and can also be used to shape the hips, knees, neck, upper arms and male breasts. Once performed, fat should not return to the treated areas, however, it isn’t recommended for those seeking an overall weight-loss method or a weight-loss alternative.
Tummy Tuck
A tummy tuck is a procedure designed to reshape the abdomen area and involves removing fat, excess skin and stretch marks to tighten the appearance of the stomach. There are two types of tummy tuck, a partial tummy tuck or a full tummy tuck depending on what your specific needs dictate.
A partial tummy tuck is suitable for those with a small amount of excess skin, whereas a full tummy tuck is more for those with more excess skin.
Many people who opt for a tummy tuck have recently lost a lot of weight or not had their stomach shrink back after pregnancy. It is not suitable for those who are overweight or attempting to lose weight.
Cool Sculpting
Cool sculpting is a non surgical treatment option to target the removal of fat. The procedure targets and freezes fat cells, resulting in a 15-20% reduction of fat in the treated area.
During the procedure, a roll of fat is placed between two panels that cool it to a freezing temperature.
It takes approximately 1 hour to treat each targeted body part and the following side effects can occur: redness, bruising, stinging, firmness, tingling, tenderness and aching.
